Various types of electricians involved in lighting a stage performance who comes under the supervision of a Master electrician are as follows: Load in electrician: Usually he is also referred to as a production electrician. He is hired on daily basis and takes charge of focusing, refocusing and re-getting lights. Deck electrician: He is in charge of the back stage effects and is also called as stage electrician. Light board operator: Light board operator is a person who generates cues for a display this includes dimming of light at many level by just pressing a 'go' button in a computer controlled equipment. Lighting programmer: Lighting programmer's responsibility is to assist light board operator in programming cues as per his instructions. Moving light programmer: Moving light programmer is in charge of a control system for moving lights from one location to another which includes changing moving colors and patterns. Co_ordination of adequate light in a particular pattern is required. It needs a dedicated person to do this work. Follow spot operators: Follow spot operators physically move the spotlight to follow the performer on stage. He has to modify the size of the beam light. The operators mentioned above are responsible for the lighting designs involved in a show. Sometime a Master electrician does all roles, but in large production it is not possible to do so. They need electricians with specialized purpose. Only then a show can be successful and achieve the desired effect as planned by the producer. |
